ADVOCACY RESOURCE HUBS

The Free Community Program For Dispensaries & The Cannabis Industry

ADVOCACY RESOURCE HUBS

:: a central location in a dispensary established to serve as the epicenter of community resources and customer/patient advocacy.

This FREE & OPEN-SOURCE program by Advocacy Revolution helps teams build inclusive cultures & accessible spaces to work towards ensuring everyone can participate in all aspects of the cannabis industry.

  • Physical Spaces:: 75% of people with Disabilities experience difficulties when accessing buildings and public spaces (Scope)

Virtual Spaces:: only 3% of the Internet is accessible to people with Disabilities. (Forbes)

  • Without accessibility & inclusion, we perpetuate ableism & systemic inequality - regardless of our intention.

Ableism can take place on a personal or institutional level - ranging from social barriers to outright inaccessibility and isolation.

Ableism is rooted in the harmful belief that there is a “normal” way for humans to function. So the solution begins with transforming the way society defines and places value on the “normal” human experience.

We must reframe the narrative so that we - as a collective - understand that “a Disability is caused by the way society is organized, rather than by a person's impairment or difference” (Scope).

  • When you enter an Advocacy Hub, you enter an area where accessibility and inclusion are championed on paper (i.e. policies & procedures) and in practice (i.e. organizational culture & resources).

When you enter an Advocacy Hub, you enter an area where customers, employees & community members are supported and where various barriers are addressed head on:

    • Physical barriers

    • Communication barrier

    • Attitudinal barriers

    • Cultural barriers

    • Procedural barriers

    • Technological barriers

With Advocacy Hubs, we can collectively infuse this model into our communities.

“We’re excited to share that we now have a designated Advocacy Hub at a Patient Consultant station at the Prime Leaf on Park!

This station is designed to support multiple forms of communication methods in a more private space. Patients can indicate their communication preferences and easily get the medication they need. Additionally, some of our patient consultants are learning ASL to expand our communication abilities!

Shoutout to @advocacyrevolution for helping to bring Advocacy Resource Hubs to the Prime Leaf!”
